Our Underwriting Appetite

We write coastal Florida condominium units that reflect modern, storm-resistant construction:

  • Wind-resistive construction built to the post-2002 Florida Building Code, or units with opening protections meeting the 2002 Florida Building Code requirements
  • Minimum Total Insured Value: Up to $5,000,000 per unit with upon referral
  • Maximum Total Insured Value: $2,000,000 per unit
  • Building-level cap: Aggregates managed at the county, ZIP code, and building level, with a maximum of $10M TIV per building

If the risk fits these parameters, it’s a risk worth submitting.

FAQs

We know coastal windstorm risk can be complex, so we've pulled together answers to the questions we hear most from our agent and broker partners. And if something isn't covered here, a real person is always just a call or email away.

What does our program cover?

Our program provides comprehensive coverage for eligible condominium risks in Florida, including in coastal areas. It's designed to cover perils including hurricanes and windstorms. Policies cover personal contents as well as walls, doors, built-ins and other structures that are not the responsibility of the condo building. The program also provides coverage for additional living expenses in the event your unit is uninhabitable as well as legal expenses for injuries or property damage to others. Medical coverage for minor incidents in the unit are also covered.

The program targets condominium structures built to the post-2002 Florida Building Code, or older construction that has qualifying opening protections (impact-rated windows and doors, or code-approved shutters covering all openings). Both unit-owner exposures and building/association exposures are eligible, subject to underwriting review.

Our program is designed to cover individual condo unit owners and condominium associations or building owners.  This product covers the personal property and interior of the condominium owner’s unit that they are responsible for rather than the condo building owner/association.

The program is available in the state of Florida including coastal territories.

The program is distributed exclusively through independent agents and brokers. Reach out through the submit a risk option below on this page to start the appointment process. We'll walk you through the requirements and get you set up to submit business.

Our easy to use system allows agents to submit, quote and bind coverage in real time.  The minimum information needed to quote will be the property address, desired coverage amounts, and documentation of opening protections (impact glazing or shutters) if the building predates the 2002 code.  Submissions can be quoted and bound in minutes.

Opening protection is central to how we evaluate wind risk. Buildings constructed before the 2002 code can still qualify if all openings are protected to code-approved standards. Documented impact protection generally improves both eligibility and pricing, since it materially reduces the likelihood of wind-driven damage during a named storm.

Our program is uniquely designed to provide insurance solutions condo owners in Florida.  This specialty focus combined with best-in-class service to agents and insureds, especially at the time of a claim, stands out compared to other options.
